Everyone knows that the purpose of selling ebooks or other digital products online is to make money. That’s a no-brainer. The reality of the digital products sales cycle, however, depends on some hard-core marketing facts that are often overlooked in the enthusiasm of publishing your articles and ebooks.
Traffic, and lots of it, is the #1 requirement for the success of your marketing plan. If no one visits your carefully crafted website to even see the products you are offering, you will not make a sale.
Likewise all the traffic in the world doesn’t matter much if your product is dreadful.
Your understanding and use of Resell Rights products could have a huge effect on driving traffic to your sales pages. Let’s examine that statement a little before we revisit Resell Rights.
There’s so much information all over the Web about focusing, the need for new content, and how to write articles or ebooks that it can be confusing and definitely overwhelming when you are looking for simple guidance.
The best advice is a simple statement that is often overlooked in the rush to produce digital products and get them in front of customers:
“Success with digital products comes with a marketing approach that has widespread appeal and excites potential customers with the passion of your personal approach.”
That statement does not mean that you have to be an expert or have several college degrees to attract customers. What it does mean is that your credibility online depends on the message buyers get from the text of your sales page. You have to let your passion for your subject shine through your words or customers will not be willing to part with their money.
When you are starting to build your online business, it is easy to get lost in a forest of information overload. Theories abound about the best way to do anything and most of that “advice” is just a theory, written by others just as lost as you are.
One simple way to find good examples is to look at the sales pages of reputable marketers - those “gurus” who have been selling online for years. Don’t copy their sales pages, but use them as examples of what to do with your sales page. Check overall format, headline size and color, placement of testimonials…all the features that attract your eye and make you keep reading. “Copy Success!” is one online marketing mantra that is true.
Before you even start considering using Resell Rights products to build your empire, you need to focus your thinking to narrow your approach. The “buckshot method” not only scatters the birds, but diffuses your focus so much that your efforts will be useless.
The basis of any good plan, whether for Internet Marketing or for any other business, begins with your thought processes. There are four questions you should answer to see what your passions and depth of real knowledge actually are.
When visitors find your page and scroll down your sales message, they are really looking for reasons to buy, or NOT to buy your products. If they learn who you are and what you are about, they will relax and consider your products as valuable commodities.
Most new marketers begin writing their sales pages in a cold, stilted manner, with no personality in them, that they remember from their school days. Forget that! Write your sales letter like you are talking to a neighbor or a friend. You will not separate browsers from their money if you sound like a clone of your high school English teachers.
You don’t have to provide personal details, like address and phone number, to come alive on your website, but a few details about your experience with your product and/or your subject matter would instill trust with your buyers.
Make a list of all your accomplishments. All of them: your education, every job you ever held, volunteer activities, sports you enjoy, hobbies you are good at, what you like to read.
This list will shed a light on your underlying passions that can be turned into an Internet Marketing business. How? If you see a recurring theme or interest, you just discovered your passion for a subject.
For example, if you always planted a garden in your parent’s backyard when you were a kid, took some gardening classes when you were older, joined a volunteer group to start a community garden near a retirement home and have something sprouting from seed in a yogurt container on your windowsill, you have found your niche.
And your experience makes you an “expert” in that niche.
One way is to write short articles on your passion and submit them to article directories. This method was discussed in some depth already in the chapter on Viral Marketing, but needs a little more emphasis.
Your success with this powerful tool depends on how fast you can write original articles of interest on your niche. A simpler and faster way is to find articles or article packs online with Private Label Rights attached and rewrite them, adding some new content while you are rewriting.
A less publicized use for Private Label products is idea generation. When you are staring at a blank page on your monitor and inspiration escapes you, try reading several articles on your subject. If you don’t have any stashed on your hard drive, like most marketers have, visit article directories and read what your competition has to say. You will start generating ideas and solutions that you can use to build your own reputation.
If you get an idea from another’s article or list of benefits on their sales page, you are free to capitalize on that idea. You will not be violating any copyrights. Ideas cannot be protected with copyright laws, only the presentation can.
When your articles are picked up from article directories, they will be published in blogs and newsletters all over the Internet, creating your reputation as an expert for you. Your author box, with your link back to your sales page goes with each article you write.
Another way to build your credibility is to publish testimonials on your sales page from people who read your ebook or used your software and found it useful. You can always ask experts in your field to read your ebook and comment on it. You can ask your friends or family to do the same thing.
When total strangers are considering buying your products, it is a powerful persuader when they read what other real people had to say about your product. It is even more powerful if a picture of the happy customer is included.
You can quickly determine the answer to this question by answering a few more questions that will help you research the answer. If no one wants your product, it is not marketable and will not sell online. Here’s a few questions that need answers.
o Is there a lot of “Buzz” on your subject or topic in the newspapers or on television? How about on the covers of magazines in your supermarket? This should be easy to determine while you are munching chips and dip in front of the television, or in the supermarket buying them for later.
o What’s your competition? Google your topic and check out the little box on the top of the list of sites in your search parameters. Be sure to specifically focus your topic and not use a broad, generic search term.
A search for the broad term “pets” returned this nugget of information: “Results 1 - 10 of about 303,000,000 for pets.” That’s a lot of competition.
A better search would be for the term “calico cats,” for example:
“Results 1 - 10 of about 736,000 for calico cats.”
o Who’s your market? Are you trying to attract stay-at-home moms or senior citizens? How about teenagers? Or collectors of your favorite widget?
If your product has appeal for a wide spectrum of interested buyers, your sales will increase. A topic so tightly focused that very few will even be searching for the subject will not make many sales for you. It’s all a numbers game.
o Would anyone besides your mother buy your product? You should ask yourself if any of your friends would buy what you are selling? How about you? Would you buy it? If your answers are “No,” you might want to rethink your decisions.
o What are the benefits of buying your product?
Since all buying decisions are emotional, you have to answer the only question that matters to your buyers: “WIIFM, or What’s In It For Me?”
The answer to that universal question is a list of benefits, or what the buyer will get from your ebook or software. If you can tell them how your product will make their life easier or solve a problem for them, they will buy. Those are benefits. Do not confuse them with features.
Now that you have the necessary steps to focus your attention where it needs to be to start your journey toward success, let’s examine how resell
rights products will support that journey.
When you are approaching viral marketing with article submissions, you can easily get overloaded with the amount of articles you have to write and submit before the viral aspect of your articles kicks in.
This where Private Label Products will save your sanity. Your solution is to gather as many PLR articles as you can and start rewriting them. Change the titles and add a little new content for an original article of your own. At first, your rewriting process will be slow, but practice will speed up those skills in a hurry.
While you are gathering articles, visit some directories and check out the author’s box. You will find that most are similar, with a couple of sentences about the author and a link to a sales page. Copy the same format and be sure to put your author’s box at the end of every article you write.
Submitting those articles can be more than tedious. It could take days to get enough submissions to create your online credibility if you have to do it manually. A better solution would be use a submission service to do the tedious job for you. They can submit your article to hundreds of article directories automatically for a minimal fee.
If your market is focused at those searching for information for their own personal use, Resale Rights would fill that need nicely. Your customers would be able to buy the ebook from you but would not be able to sell it themselves. Resale Rights are for personal use only and cannot be passed on to your customers. If they wanted to resell it, they would have purchase it, along with the rights to resell, from the original owner or the author.
Your market for products with this restrictive set of rights could be students looking for resources to complete college projects or retired people needing information or exploring new avenues of interest to keep their minds alive.
Not everyone is trying to be an Internet Marketer. Hard to believe, huh?
Digital products, ebooks, software and ecourses with Giveaway Rights are very useful for list-building, but not for directly building your income stream. The restriction is that you can freely give the product to your subscribers, or anyone you want to, but no one can sell it or edit it. No link for you. That means that the ebook gets moved around freely by you and others, but the only guy making money is the one you bought it from.
So why not be the guy who creates it?
What you can do if you don’t fancy being a product creator, however, is use the Giveaway Rights products to increase your opt-in list and, then, market your own products (or other people’s with you as an affiliate) to that list. Everyone likes free gifts. Giveaway products can be offered in your emails, blogs and newsletters to your subscribers.
If you want to start a viral movement of your own, create some original short ebooks on popular subjects or ecourses where you spot definite needs for the subject, add your own links to your sales pages and offer them to the publishers of newsletters and blogs as a free giveaway to their subscribers. That way, YOUR branded products will be circling the Web and sending interested buyers to your sites. Very cool!
There are a couple of good reasons to use products with Master Resell Rights when you start marketing with products you didn’t create. The major reason is that you get to sell the ebook or software and keep all the money.
The other reason is that you can sell the product with or without the Master Resell Rights attached. You can sell the ebook without rights for a modest price, which will attract buyers looking for good value for little money. Selling the Master Resell Rights, on the other hand, can be more lucrative than selling the product itself.
