Giveaway Rights (GA or GR)

Giveaway rights means that you can give away the product to anyone for free, but you cannot sell it or edit it in any way. Information products with giveaway rights are perfect examples of viral marketing for the original owner of the product or the creator. This is why you’ll usually see links to the owners products in the ebook or report and you won’t be allowed to change it. He wants as many people to see it as possible.

It’s not all one-sided though.

You can use products with giveaway rights to increase your subscriptions to your newsletter or blog by requiring sign-ups or registration before the download. They can also effectively be used as surprise gifts to your email list. Everyone likes to get something for free.

The reality of products with giveaway rights is that you will not usually increase your income, or make any money, with them. What can happen, however, is that you will keep the interest of your list and build your reputation. If you promote the products you have with giveaway rights as bonuses for products you can sell, you will make money.

Personal Use Rights (PUR)

A lot of ebooks and other information products come with Personal Use Rights, which means that you can only use the product for your own use. You can read it and learn from it, but you cannot give it away, sell it or use it as a bonus for your list building. It basically means you can read it but not much more.

Branding Rights (BR)

Another technique that can be useful to your marketing business is Branding Rights. This means that, after you purchase a product from a marketer offering these rights, you can change all the links in the product to your links leading back to products you are selling or getting an affiliate commission from for each sale you make.

Most of these products come with either clear instructions for branding the product with your links or free software you can use to do it for you.

Royalty Rights

Sellers pay a percentage to the author or owner of the product for every e-book they sell.

Now that you have a good understanding of the benefits and restrictions of the most used resale rights, let’s move on to how you can use those rights to build your business…
